Regular watchers of this space will be familiar with one of my favorite subjects ever: the one and only Harry. (Well, maybe not the one and only, given that he and his dad share a name, but he’s a singular personality.) The last time I had the pleasure of photographing him, he had just turned two and I was less than a week away from moving back to Memphis. He was also only a couple of months away from becoming a big brother to the gorgeous Miss Alexis. When Kristan and I were able to link up about taking photos during my recent visit to Pittsburgh, I knew it was something I was going to make work, Tim Gunn-style, despite always flitting madly from place to place when I’m in town.
And I’m so glad I did, because we had a blast: spraying each other with the water fountain in Highland Park, doffing hats, chewing on sunflowers (nope, not the seeds), and revisiting the place where Kristan and Harry fell in love. I also may have bopped myself on the head with Elmo a couple dozen times to make Alexis giggle. Happily, Elmo is soft and doesn’t want to hurt anybody.
Let’s head to Highland Park, shall we? Harry is showing off his new chapeau.
Harry’s reward for good smiling was an opportunity to jump out of the next photo.
Alexis’ eyes are some kind of beautiful.
One thing is quickly apparent: Harry and Alexis ADORE each other. She always wants to know exactly what he’s up to.
Now it’s time for some full-tilt fountain follies.
While Harry dries off from that adventure, Alexis discovers the black-eyed susans.
Alexis is one stunning, happy girl.
I thought the pic on the right was hilarious because Harry, unprompted, got in on the kissing action, much to Alexis’ surprise.
As the sun set, we high-tailed it over to the University of Pittsburgh campus and introduced little Harry to the Cathedral of Learning, where his parents met. I had such a great time with these guys, and getting to watch as their family grows has been such a pleasure over the last few years. I’m so thankful geography doesn’t get in the way of our time together!
